QR Codes

QR Codes

a QR Code is a two dimensional, black and white graphic code which has digitized information embedded within the code. Smart phones with cameras and internet access can scan the code to reveal the hidden information, which can be text, a link to a webpage or any other data accessible online.

Think of QR codes as a link between print materials and the web. QR Codes originated in Japan in the 90′s and they have been popular in North America since then but they are just barely making their way into the marketing scene.

QR Codes have lots of potential uses for marketing as they are effective at pulling customers in and getting them to take small actions, which helps them engage with your brand. Here’s a list of some ways to use QR Codes:

  • Business Cards – put a code on your business card containing all of your contact information
  • Put it on a T-shirt
  • Put it on price tags in a store – taking them to a specs page online (Best Buy does this)
  • Put it on your website contact us page – people take a picture of your page on the screen, puts you in their contact list
  • Put it on your instruction sheet – people scan it to get step-by-step instructions or maybe a video
  • Put it in print ads – people scan and get taken to a specific page on your site
  • Put it on a Campaign sign – taking people to your website
  • Put it on a for sale sign – take them to a webpage with video and information about the item being sold, house, car,…
  • Put it on your luggage – if it ever gets lost
